National Disability Awards: nominations now open!

Disability Awards nominations are open now

Do you know an individual or organisation that has really improved the lives of people with disability and contributed to increased recognition of equality and human rights for all Australians?

Then you should consider nominating them for a National Disability Award!
The National Disability Awards are held each year as part of the International Day of People with Disability celebrations on 3 December.
The day celebrates and recognises the achievements, contributions and abilities of people with disability. The day is also a good opportunity to raise awareness about disability issues across the community and support the development of an inclusive Australian society.

Award Categories

The Award categories match the National Disability Strategy key policy areas and celebrate and acknowledge people, teams and organisations who demonstrate excellence, passion, vision and a commitment to assisting people with disability to achieve their goals.
The Award categories for 2014 are:

  • Lesley Hall Award for Lifetime Achievement in Disability
  • Emerging Leaders in Disability Award
  • Improving Inclusive and Accessible Communities Award
  • Improving Advocacy and Rights Promotion Award
  • Improving Employment Opportunities Award
  • Improving Personal and Community Support Award
  • Improving Education Outcomes Award
  • Improving Health and Wellbeing Outcomes Award

Anyone can nominate an individual or organisation that has improved the lives of people with disabilities.
