Some of you might be wondering what is Crossing Borders Youth Camp for? The vision and purpose for this camp is to support Deaf/Hard of Hearing youth aged 13-17 years old to develop their self-esteem, personal and leadership skills as well as expanding and building their friendship networks. At the camp, participants will be involved with teamwork building workshops, outdoor adventure activities and environment education. The program itself is designed to be entertaining, caring, and challenging with a variety of activities. For many Deaf/Hard of Hearing youths, attending camps is a difficult experience due to communication barriers so this camp’s goal is to provide all with a camp that is accessible and empowering for youths.
The 2023 Crossing Borders Youth Camp supports Deaf/hard of hearing young aged 13-17 years old to develop their self-esteem, personal and leadership skills as well as enhance their friendship networks. Hi everyone! This video is specifically about flights for the Brisbane camp. There are two arrangements: flights arriving Wednesday 12th April and Sunday 16th April. This is important information for the Wednesday. Your child MUST arrive at Brisbane Airport by 12pm the latest. They can arrive at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, or 11am, that is up to you, but they MUST arrive by 12pm. A coach will arrive and pick up all participants and their bags to be taken directly to camp to arrive at 2pm. Camp leaders will be present at the airport ready to meet your child and ensure everyone is together ready for the bus' arrival at 1pm. When you register, you will receive an information booklet that specifies the airport meeting point as well as an emergency phone number that you and your child can access to contact camp leaders if anything urgent happens when travelling. For Sunday April 16th, all campers who are flying out of Brisbane will depart camp at 1pm on a coach directly to Brisbane airport for 2pm arrival. Camp leaders will be with the campers. All campers can not fly out until after 3:30pm to ensure enough time is available to drop off bags and board their flights. Camp leaders will remain at the airport until all campers have flown out safely. The same emergency phone number to contact camp leaders if anything urgent comes up when travelling. If you have more questions, please contact me by emailing me at [email protected].
