Frequently Asked Questions

Deaf Australia's membership fees are as follows:

  • Ordinary & Associate Membership: $50 per year
  • Concession & Student Membership: $25 per year
  • Under 18 Membership: $5 per year

Corporate Membership is a great way to show your support for the Deaf community and be part of meaningful change.To get started, just email to info@deafaustralia.org.au to request an application form. We’d love to welcome your organisation on board.

Memberships follow the financial year:

  • Any membership purchased during a financial year (regardless of the sign-up date) will be valid until 30th June of that financial year.
  • All members are automatically rebilled on 1st July each year unless they choose to opt out or cancel their membership before that date.

Example – if you join on 3rd August 2025, you will be an active member until 30th June 2026 then rebilled on 1st July 2026.

As part of the transition to the new system, anyone who signs up between now and 30th June 2025 will not be rebilled on 1st July 2025. Your membership will remain active until 30th June 2026.

Membership is open to all, with different categories based on eligibility:

  • Ordinary Membership
    Limited to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Ordinary members have full voting rights within Deaf Australia.
  • Associate Membership
    Open to anyone, regardless of hearing status. Associate members do not have voting rights.
  • Junior Membership
    For individuals under the age of 18 who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Junior members do not have voting rights, but are welcomed as part of the community and can access member benefits.
  • Ordinary Membership (Concession)
    Available to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing and hold a valid concession card (e.g., Health Care Card, Pension Card, Student ID).
    Please ensure you have appropriate documentation when applying for this discounted rate.
