User Testing for eLearning

Transcript

Hello, I’m Shirley and I work at Deaf Australia as a community and development officer. For quite some time part of my job has focused on a specific project initiated under ILC funding; the developing of a bank of e-learning courses which are online courses that provide information on topics of interest for people to learn and absorb knowledge. Over this period of time I’ve been consulting with people to write the content and I’ve been collaborating with producers to translate from English to Auslan videos to put online permanently. It’s been an amazing process, developing and seeing this project progress. Soon we will be launching this in the not too distant future and today we are at this stage in the timeline where we are currently making these videos. Once that’s finished we will move onto the next stage which is to test the e-learning modules and see what needs improvement, what needs to be fixed, what needs to be modified and any other feedback you might have for us. I would like to encourage a maximum of about 10 people from the community who wants to put their hand up, are keen to be involved with this project. Have a look at them and provide feedback on how to improve for better access and information; is it worth it and does it benefit the Deaf community? Please contact me if you are keen to be involved or if you want more information: I’m happy to respond to it all.  Thank you.

DYA - Youth Consultation

Transcript

Hello, I’m Shirley. I work at Deaf Australia as a community and development officer. For quite some time I’ve been collaborating closely with Deaf Youth Australia (DYA). Deaf Australia has been supporting DYA to gain momentum and move along their journey. Now the DYA at the moment is undergoing some restructuring and modifying their systems and processes for a more efficient and smooth future. The DYA is focusing on how to improve their collaboration with youth from all around Australia. Too, they need to set up forums for consultation with different age categories,  with those involved aged from under 30 to the absolute minimum age, maybe from 10 to 11 - 12 all the way to just under 30. The forums will discuss how they see Deaf Youth Australia, what their goals are, what are their achievements? We want to invite participation into how to improve things and what do you want the DYA to do for you. How would the membership system work? How can we support how to network better, how to share information better? We want to really encourage you to get involved and grow the numbers. To give you a brief background into Deaf Youth Australia the current membership structure is connected with World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section gives name sign It’s been an impressive process focusing on advocacy for human rights, leadership and providing different camps on an international level. They support and demonstrate ways for Deaf Youth Australia to become involved. So if you are keen to put your hand up and you want to have a look, maybe become involved in Deaf Youth Australia’s committee and how to support them please do contact me. We will create a list to prepare for the future community forms. So c’mon & join!

The aim is to share and provide access to information to the deaf community in Auslan.  We have a lot of different written documents. Some are short and some are long. It really depends on what the contents are. So if you, meaning Deaf individuals, are interested and want to develop skills in translating from English to Auslan, want to learn how to film yourself using professional strategies and how to release the videos, if you are really keen please contact us and we can provide more detail and information and how to pay you for your time. If you are keen please contact me by email. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Community Discussion Group

Transcript

Hello, I’m Shirley, I work at Deaf Australia. My role is that of a community and development officer. Now I want to establish this project where we set up a community discussion group like an advisory group focusing on issues, coming up with creative ways to address them and provide feedback. I will arrange this over a specific timeline to set this up. We want people to participate from all around Australia. It would be good to see a diversity of people representing different states and territories to come together to discuss moves going forward. Hopefully this will be the basis of a good relationship with Deaf Australia and with the Deaf community. We want to know what are the diverse knowledge on how to approach things, inform people and how to provide support in effective advocacy, how to provide effective research methods and create a centre for this bank of knowledge.  So through this process we need to work out what is the best format or system to form an effective advisory group, how to create a partnership. We will let you know more information and we would like to send out an EOI to the community who are interested in putting their hands up and getting involved. Please do contact us
