About Deaf Youth Australia
Deaf Youth Australia (DYA) was officially established on December of 2013. An EOI to participate in forming was sent out in October of that same year. Many people came together to workshop and the outcome was the realisation of the importance in becoming established and so DYA was launched. The first formal meeting was held in March the following year in Brisbane. The main aim of DYA is for young Deaf people from the age of 9 to 30 across the nation to be well informed, participate in personal development such as workshops and training in leadership, camp, networking, events and fundraising. We formalised membership with Youth Ordinary Member (YOM) in 2015; this is part of the World Federation for the Deaf Youth Section. This meant we could liaise with them directly.
